Find the number that is actually limiting you
- Troop load answers one question for a finite World Map spot: can this march carry the displayed amount in the tile? If yes, more load does not make that same tile finish sooner or create an extra-resource bonus.
- Gathering speed reduces the occupation timer. It matters when marches can be recalled and sent again promptly. A faster empty tile is less impressive if the march then waits at home for two hours.
- Extra resources increase the return after gathering. Official wording gives Queen Jindeok 40% extra from World Map resource spots and 20% extra from Alliance Resource Spots. Those are different conditions, so do not use the 40% figure for the alliance tile.
Use the break-even clock
Compare actual total return divided by the full cycle time, including travel and unavoidable idle time. If one setup truly brings home 1.40 times the other's total haul, the lower-haul speed setup must complete its full cycle in no more than 1 ÷ 1.40 of that time, about 71.4%, to match its return per hour. A true total-haul ratio of 1.20 gives a full-cycle threshold of about 83.3%.
Worked example: suppose the extra-resource setup brings home 1.40 times the speed setup’s total haul from the same World Map tile. Its 3-hour occupation plus a 20-minute round trip gives a 3-hour-20-minute cycle. With the same travel time and no idle time, the speed setup needs an occupation time of at most about 2 hours 2 minutes 51 seconds. The stopwatch is allowed to be rude.
A listed +40% or +20% skill does not by itself establish a 1.40 or 1.20 ratio between complete hauls. Equal existing extra-resource effects do not make that assumption valid. Use each setup’s total returned resources and full cycle time; equal nonzero travel still affects the occupation-time threshold. Editorial arithmetic is not an in-game test.
Fill the finite World Map tile before polishing the general
For a finite World Map spot, send enough troop load to cover the amount shown. A huge Alliance Resource Spot is a different job: match capacity to what the march can gather during its planned stay, rather than trying to carry the entire spot. Specialist guides report that siege machines carry more per troop at the same tier, but mature accounts usually have enough total troops that capacity is no longer the bottleneck.
If the march cannot clear the tile, add troops or a temporary load solution first. If it already can, stop paying for load unless you need a smaller march for safety or another specific job. The tile does not award a medal for unused carrying capacity.
Build the useful stack, not the expensive stack
Official guidance lists Queen Jindeok for extra return, Gaius Marius and Princess Lucy for speed, and Amir Timur or Attila for load. Jindeok's ascension later adds speed, march size and load, but her base extra-return skill already performs its main job.
Specialist guides place the practical speed stack across Politics, gathering research, resource-specific skill books, gathering gear, the matching Monarch crystal, the 50% city gathering buff and hive bonuses. The level-26 Gathering Boost talent belongs in the extra-return category. Verify each condition in your current screen before spending Gems or Runestones.
Official version 4.94.0 also increased Blood Crystal drop rates at high-level resource spots and raised daily limits for Junior Blazon Chests, Blood of Ares and Blood Crystals from gathering. This makes high-level spots useful for more than raw resources, but the announcement does not publish current drop odds or exact limits.
Run one controlled gathering test
Use the same tile level and resource type. Record travel time, displayed tile amount, occupation timer and final report for each setup. Change only one item, general or buff. Calculate actual return divided by total hours, including travel and idle time you cannot avoid. Repeat once before rebuilding five generals because one report had excellent manners.
Public official pages do not publish a complete current stacking formula for every gathering modifier, nor current item-drop odds and limits. The break-even calculation uses actual total-haul ratios and full-cycle times; the build list uses specialist guidance. Current in-game wording, timers and reports take priority if they differ.
