Karkadann is a defence beast with four directions
Evony announced Karkadann and the Holy Palace Officer set on 2026-07-31 for the Fireworks Festival. The official level 20 values are ground troop HP +104%, ranged troop attack +104%, enemy mounted troop defence -78%, and, when defending, enemy ranged troop attack -104%.
That is a mixed defence package, not a pure ranged march beast. Compare it with the beast or dragon already on the general that actually defends. Count only the lines your defence uses, the cost to raise Karkadann, and what you lose by moving the existing creature.
Player discussions generally report that a beast’s own attributes do not apply from an assistant general, although a beast may still satisfy a skill condition. That is player observation, not a controlled Karkadann test. Verify with comparable reports before moving a developed beast.
Read the Holy Palace set by breakpoint
With 2 pieces, the specialist guide reports +10% attack, defence and HP for troops reinforcing allies. This is the first useful target for a dedicated reinforcer.
With 4 pieces, it reports +10% attacking troop attack. That line is for attacking, not for sitting on the wall and looking expensive.
With 6 pieces, it reports +6% rally capacity, +8% attack, defence and HP for attacking troops, and -10% enemy ranged and siege attack when joining a rally. The joining-only line should not be counted for a solo attack or a rally setter.
None of those reported set breakpoints explicitly says main-city defence. Do not buy Holy Palace equipment as a wall set unless the current item text or a controlled report shows the effect you need.
Use an acquisition stop rule
The specialist guide says the staff and robe scrolls appeared in the Officer Equipment Scroll Chest (Interior), while crown and leg armour appeared at King’s Party cake level 10. It predicted that boots and ring might be added later. A prediction is not an acquisition path.
Treat two pieces and four pieces as separate decisions. Treat six pieces as unavailable until all six current scroll sources, prices and restrictions are visible on your account. Set-bonus text is not inventory. Evony has helpfully made the distinction collectible.
The wardrobe has now submitted a strategic plan. Two shoes remain conceptual.
Choose by the job
Main-city defender: compare Karkadann’s four confirmed level 20 lines with the developed creature already assigned. Holy Palace set breakpoints do not currently provide a confirmed wall effect.
Reinforcer: the reported two-piece bonus is the relevant early breakpoint. Stop there if the extra pieces do not improve the reinforcement job enough to justify their real cost.
Solo attacker: the reported four-piece attack bonus may matter. Do not count rally-joining debuffs in the comparison.
Rally participant: six pieces are relevant only after the full set is actually obtainable. A rally setter may value capacity and attacking stats; a joiner may also value the joining-only debuff. These are different columns, despite sharing one button.
Verify before spending
Open the current set screen and record every scroll source, price, limit and expiry. Compare one battle report before and after any owned change using the same role, troop mix and similar opponent. Keep the old equipment and creature until the new result is real. A power increase is not a combat test.
No official current price, complete six-scroll route, server eligibility or controlled Karkadann-versus-alternative test was found. Missing price data blocks a purchase recommendation. It does not block the stop rule: wait for complete acquisition evidence, then buy only for the job that receives the effect.
