Kat’s verdictTrain T15 when the first batch completes a defined march or defence job, the supporting buffs are already useful for that role, and the troops can be protected or recovered. If the batch only increases power while K43 to K45 research, Rally Spot capacity, gear or recovery remain the real limit, keep the resources liquid.

Unlock is not readiness

Evony’s official version 4.50.0 announcement introduced level 45 buildings and T16 troops, new Military Academy formations and higher action priority for T15 and T16 siege. It confirms that upper-tier troops sit inside a larger progression and balance system. It does not publish a minimum buff percentage that makes T15 safe.

A specialist building guide updated July 21, 2026 places T15 at training-building level 40 and T16 at level 45. Specialist troop tables also show higher base statistics and higher cost per unit at T15. Those facts make the tier available and stronger per unit. They do not make an unsupported troop block efficient against the opponents your server actually meets.

Give the first batch one job

Do not split the first serious budget across all four troop types merely because all four buildings have buttons. Finish one tested job before starting the next department.

Use a one-march coverage test

Main-block target = usable march size − all planned layers and secondary blocks.
T15 coverage = T15 owned ÷ main-block target × 100.

Worked example: a 4,800,000 march reserves 80,000 spaces for layers and secondary tiers. The main-block target is 4,720,000. Training 1,200,000 T15 fills 25.4% of that target. A mixed T14 and T15 march may still be useful, but the account has not built a full T15 march merely because the training event supplied fireworks.

A specialist troop table lists each T15 troop at a combined base cost of 37,500 resources plus 800 Gold, distributed differently by troop type, and 163 troop power. On that published baseline, the 1,200,000 batch costs 45 billion resources and 960 million Gold and adds about 195.6 million power. A full 4,720,000 block costs 177 billion resources and 3.776 billion Gold and adds about 769.4 million power. Use the current Training screen for the final cost after applicable reductions. The table is a planning baseline, not an official current price promise.

Do not borrow a universal buff threshold

A June 12, 2026 player discussion about T15 readiness produced different answers by server age, opponent strength, troop type, attack or defence role and access to Military Academy growth. Several players preferred MA6 to MA8 or other permanent buffs before broad T15 training; others found a specific T15 type useful earlier. The disagreement is the useful result. “2,500% means ready” is not a rule when one server sees 3,000% opponents and another sees 6,000%.

Compare the reports you actually face. Record the relevant attack, defence and HP after enemy debuffs, the march or city role, and which permanent upgrade is currently affordable. If one research or gear step improves T14 and T15 across several marches, compare that gain with the partial T15 block you could train for the same resources. Power is a measurement. It is not the job description.

Protect the troops before training them

For an attack or rally account, recalculate emergency ghosting capacity after the batch. For a deliberate defence, check Hospital headroom, healing resources, deserter and soul recovery, and the Source of Life reserve for SvS. High-tier troops that cannot be hidden are not automatically a mistake. They are automatically a defence decision.

Also compare the troop budget with the next useful building and research branch. The site’s MA5 versus MA6 guide shows why completing every earlier node is not always correct, but skipping permanent role-specific growth for a broad troop build can be equally tidy and equally expensive.

Use four stopping rules

Evidence limits

Official material confirms the level-45 and T16 expansion, new formation research, T15 and T16 siege priority adjustment, and General Simulation for checking general and Skill Book combinations. It does not publish a universal T15 readiness threshold or a current complete combat formula. Unlock levels, base statistics and troop costs here come from specialist tables; player discussions supply role-dependent observations, not controlled proof. Current in-game building prerequisites, Training costs, report conditions and event rules take priority.
