Start with the reinforcement march
A reinforcement march brings its own main and assistant generals, equipment, creature conditions, research and role wording. Specialist guidance and player reports treat the sender’s build as the starting point. That is practical guidance, not a published official combat formula.
The receiving city still contributes its wall setup, buildings, debuffs and available reinforcement capacity. Keep the sender’s march and the host city in separate columns. Combining them into one imaginary buff total is very efficient and entirely unhelpful.
Read the verb before the percentage
Evony’s official ranged-general guide recommends reinforcement pairs whose skills say “lead the army,” rather than “lead the army to attack.” Attack-only wording should not be counted while reinforcing. A larger grey skill remains zero with excellent posture.
Matsunaga Hisahide is a clear current example. His base skill works while leading the army, while his third red star and final specialty add reinforcement-only ranged bonuses. Count the general lines first, then the reinforcement-only lines that are actually unlocked.
The official FAQ and assistant-general rules separate a creature’s own attributes from skill activation. A dragon or spiritual beast carried by an assistant contributes no creature stats, but a Special Skill or Specialty that requires one still needs the required creature on that general. Keep the creature on the general whose condition it activates, including an assistant; moving it to the main general does not satisfy the assistant’s condition.
Treat the Embassy officer as a separate system
The current official duty guide lists Queen Anne’s Embassy skill as reinforcement capacity +25%, ranged and siege attack +25%, and enemy troop attack and defense -20% while she is the Embassy Officer.
That official page does not fully state whether every combat line modifies troops you send, troops you receive, or both. Theria’s specialist guide says an Embassy duty general buffs reinforcements you send, not those you receive. Player discussions contain conflicting interpretations. Treat the direction as specialist guidance until a controlled report test confirms it on the current version.
Run a one-variable reinforcement test
Use the same troop type, tier, count, main general, assistant and target. Save the full report. Change only one item, such as the Embassy officer, assistant or creature placement. Repeat in the same low-risk context and compare the matching troop-buff and loss rows. Restore the original setup, repeat once more, and keep the change only if the result repeats.
Keep four jobs in four columns
- Reinforcing an ally: count “lead the army” and explicit reinforcing effects. Exclude attack-only and in-rally lines.
- Receiving allied troops: check host reinforcement capacity, wall setup, buildings and debuffs. Do not assume a sender’s personal bonus becomes a city-wide bonus for every defender.
- Joining an attacking rally: count in-rally and joining-rally effects. That is not reinforcement, even when several alliance members are moving together.
- Defending your own city: count in-city and main-city-defense effects. A reinforcement general is not automatically a wall general. The gate has standards, however inconsistently labeled.
Use a stop rule
Do not spend Runestones, Blood of Ares, Covenant Stones or refine materials until the selected pair shows active skills in the reinforcement preset and a repeatable report improves the intended troop row. If the direction of an Embassy effect remains unclear, stop at the test. Uncertainty does not become a bonus because the general is expensive.
No complete official public reinforcement formula, current server-specific eligibility rule or independent controlled comparison for every Embassy line was found. The guide therefore gives a role audit and test method, not a promised battle result.
